The Heart of Shadowglen
There is still beauty waiting for you.

The World of Shadowglen exists to protect something precious.
The childlike sense of wonder that every person is born with.
Some children lose pieces of it through hardship.
Some adults bury it beneath responsibility, routine, and the belief that they have outgrown imagination.
Some people fear illness, disability, or age has taken it away forever.
Shadowglen quietly insists otherwise.
Every story is an invitation to slow down.
To notice.
To smile at moss.
To listen to birds.
To wonder where a feather came from.
To remember that joy does not depend on how quickly we walk, how strong our bodies are, or how easy life has been.
Wonder belongs to everyone.
Children deserve to remain children for as long as possible.
Adults deserve permission to become children again, if only for a little while.
Shadowglen is not an escape from the real world.
It is a reminder that the real world is far more magical than we usually allow ourselves to see.
Every story should leave the reader believing one simple truth:
There is still beauty waiting for you.
Go outside.
It has been hoping you would come.
There is one more reason I wanted to write these stories.
Life hurt me when I was very young, in ways no child should ever have to experience. For many years I wondered if those experiences had taken something precious from me. Looking back now, I realize they didn’t.
The spark was never gone. It was simply waiting.
Waiting for quiet roads.
Waiting for moss beside a waterfall.
Waiting for birdsong.
Waiting for someone to remind me that wonder still existed.
If you are a child who has had to carry burdens that should never have been yours, I hope you know this:
The difficult things that happened to you do not get to decide who you become.
There is still room in your heart for curiosity. There is still room for laughter.
There is still room for joy and for wonder.
If you live with a disability, an illness, or a body that doesn’t always cooperate, I hope you know something else.
The world has not closed its doors to you.
You may explore it differently than someone else. You may move more slowly. You may need a helping hand, a wheelchair, a walker, or, as I discovered, a purple scooter named Amaranthine.
But wonder keeps exactly the same pace as you do. It has never been in a hurry.
And if you are one of the grown-ups reading this, perhaps Shadowglen has something to say to you as well.
Slow down.
Put your phone away for a little while.
Listen to the birds arguing over absolutely nothing.
Pick up an interesting stone.
Smile at the moss beside the path.
Ask yourself when you stopped believing an ordinary afternoon could become an adventure.
Children already know the answer.
Perhaps it’s time we joined them again.
That is why I write.
Not simply to tell stories.
But to gently remind all of us, children and grown-ups alike, that the world is still full of quiet miracles.
Sometimes all it takes is the willingness to notice them.
And sometimes...
it takes the right companion to carry us back into them.
